Alex Siggers has successfully defended his PhD and is moving to Sweden for the research opportunity of a lifetime!

Shortly, Alex, his wife Kayla, two dogs, and two cats, will be moving to Sweden so Alex can serve as the new postdoc for the Wardle Lab at Umeå University. He’ll investigate the impacts of species loss and warming on mountain ecosystems as he travels to the most beautiful regions in the world.

Alex has been a dedicated lab member, mentor, project leader, and valued friend throughout his time in the Smith lab. His absence will leave a noticeable gap in the lab that will take combined effort to fill. We already miss him, but between exploring his new home and traveling the world, he might not have time to miss us! We wish him the very best and hope he can visit soon.
